The Main Branch of the Riverside Regional Library will host its monthly book club on Friday, August 15, from 7-8 p.m.

Join us for a discussion of a little gem of a book translated from Japanese “The Traveling Cat Chronicles” by Hiro Awikawa.

The group meets at the Main Branch in Jackson. For ages 18+.

The Cape Girardeau Parks & Recreation Department will host Riverfront Yoga each Saturday through September 27.

Fitness instructors will lead a yoga flow built for all levels and ages. No experience is required, and modifications will be offered. Attendees should bring a towel, a mat, and water.

Riverfront Yoga will take place this Saturday from 7:30-8:30 a.m. at Riverfront Park in downtown Cape. No registration is required, but there is a small fee of $4 to attend.

Kellerman Concerts present Kent Burnside on Sunday, August 17. Burnside, the eldest grandson of legendary blues man, R.L. Burnside, will bring the blues to Cape Girardeau. $20 at the door or $15 in advance with reservations. Call 573-270-1009 for reservations.

Mercy Hospital Southeast will present “30-Minute Dinners” at its next Healthy Cooking Class on August 18.

Nutritional Services Coordinator Laura Vollink will share how to create nutritious dinners that are budget-friendly and can be prepared in a pinch to keep your family on the right track.

“30-Minute Dinners” will be held Monday, August 18, from 6 to 7:15 p.m. in the demonstration kitchen at Mercy Healthpoint Fitness in Cape Girardeau. There is a small fee and registration is required.

For August, participants will pick a book they’ve read recently and tell the group about it. You can also bring book recommendations, especially ones for the group to read in the future.

The Friends of the Cape Girardeau Public Library Foundation will host its Fall Book Sale on August 22-24.

The event will offer fresh fiction, nonfiction, sci-fi, romance, political selections, cookbooks, children's books, CDs, DVDs, audiobooks, and more.

The Fall Book Sale will take place Friday, August 22, from 6 to 8 PM, Saturday, August 23, from 8 AM to 5 PM, and Sunday, August 24, from 1 to 5 PM at the Cape Girardeau Public Library.
